Tips & Tools

Shipping with us is easy, but we still have guidelines to adhere to. Use the shipping resources below as a guideline to ensure that your goods are good to go.

Shipping Size and Shipping Weight

Often size and weight will not be the real issue when shipping your luggage by air, as long as it complies with the size and weight restrictions of regular baggage. Larger items may pose problems and could force you to ship the item as cargo.

In most cases we are able to make arrangements for much larger and heavier items. If you like, we can even make arrangements for shipping your motorcycle to your vacation destination.

Dangerous Shipping Goods

A lot on things in our regular life are not made for traveling by air and are even considered dangerous goods. There are more than 3600 dangerous goods listed in the IATA Dangerous Goods documentation.

For safety reasons, the following materials and articles are prohibited from being shipped as cargo:

  • Any type of batteries
  • Explosives, ammunition, fireworks
  • Flammable, non flammable deeply refrigerated and poisonous or irritating gases, such as aerosols, lighters and lighter refills, camping fuel
  • Disabling devices such as mace, pepper spray, etc. containing an irritant or incapacitating substance
  • Carbon dioxide cylinders for soda siphons, butane gas cylinders, aqualung cylinders, gas cylinders
  • Flammable solids, such as matches and items which are easily ignited, substances liable to spontaneous combustion, substances which on contact with water emit flammable gases
  • Flammable liquids, such as paints, thinners, solvents, nail polish
  • Oxidizing substances, such as bleaching powder and peroxides
  • Poisonous (toxic) and infectious substances (viruses and bacteria)
  • Radioactive materials
  • Corrosives materials: acids, metallic mercury, thermometers containing mercury, barometers, acids,
  • Alkaline and wet cell batteries
  • Magnetized materials and other miscellaneous dangerous goods

Please be aware that some items are accepted as baggage or carry-on luggage, but are prohibited as cargo. For example – nail polish, hairspray, perfumes, matches, lighters, etcetera.

Shipping Security

In order to comply with the Safety and Security regulations imposed by Transport Canada, we will have to enforce certain rules and guidelines. All shipments will be held for at least 48 hours and/or have to be manually search/X-rayed. At the discretion of the airline, they also might search the shipment before acceptance or while in transit.

We suggest that when you deliver your goods to us, that boxes be taped and sealed and to not lock your suitcases.

Packing Tips

Packing your shipment correctly is an important factor in ensuring that they arrive safely at the destination. Follow the tips below to ensure packing is done properly, or contact us to pack your items for you.

    • Acceptable packaging is suitcases, backpacks, cardboard boxes, plastic containers
